Computer Security Tips to Protect your System information

We hear a lots and lots of concerning cases of hacking, softwares, malwares, viruses, etc, Here are some Computer Security tips to safeguard your PC/laptop against hacker intrusions, malware and different viruses that exploits your PC or Laptops.

6 Computer Security Tips

1) Use a firewall

A firewall is a software system that will handle outgoing and incoming Internet connections of your computer. You’ll be able to clearly use the one engineered into Windows by default, however this can be by no means the foremost Efficient. i will like to recommend Comodo Firewall which is free and straightforward to use. Using Firewall is just one of Computer Security tip that i want to mention

2) Use antivirus

There are obvious reasons to use Anti virus Programs, but there are People that don’t have any antivirus or those who have, they have not upgraded thier antivirus since their permit has lapsed.. However there are quite powerful free antivirus Available. One must Install Antivirus to Protect and Keep thier Computer Secure

3) Updating software system:

New vulnerabilities are found in software system or operative systems like Windows each day. So one must always updates thier software system. Keeping your installed Softwares upto date is Important, as it will Keep hackers away from breaking into your System and its Said that any upto date program Works smooth without any glitch.

4) Use complicated passwords

Users like you and me use too weak  passwords that are very simple to detect for hackers, there are so many software which will try all Possible Combinations to Crack your Password, this is known as Bruteforce technique .  If your secret word(password) Consists of just 4 or 5 characters, it will easily discover it.
Your Password becomes harder to crack if it consists of 8 or 9 characters which also includes numbers, letters and special characters. To check the strength of your Password, there are plenty tools over internet. This is an important Computer Security tip that everyone must Consider.

5) Use totally different passwords

Most common mistake people make is that they use same password everywhere over internet. Yes, its very hard to remember passwords for all accounts but its highly advisible to have different passwords for different accounts.
This Practice Comes handy if one of your account gets Compromised/Hacked, then your other accounts are still safe.

6) Always Beware:

 • Finally, Abstain from getting hacked,  Always beware while Browsing Internet, don’t transfer and install everything and anything on your PC or Laptop.
 • Always check the sources of software system and websites that you just use to download programs.
 • Don’t be silly and amateur hackers won’t be able to do  anything to you (while serious and skilled hackers will not have any interest to hack you)
Do you have any Computer Security tip that you will like to share ? Feel free to comment below.

How to Monitor and Control Your Children’s Computer Usage on Windows 8

image
Windows 8’s Family Safety features allow you to monitor your children’s computer usage, get weekly reports, set time limits for computer use, filter inappropriate websites, block children from using certain applications, and more.
When you create a new user account in Windows 8, you’ll be able to designate it as a child’s account. This enables the Family Safety feature.

Creating Children’s Accounts

Use Windows 8’s PC Settings application to create a new user account for a child. (Mouse over the bottom or top right corners of the screen,  move your mouse cursor up or down, click the Settings charm, and click Change PC Settings at the bottom of your screen.)

Select the Users category and click the Add a user button to add a new user account.

Enable the “Is this a child’s account? Turn on Family Safety to get reports of their PC use” check box while creating a user account.

Viewing Reports

Assuming you’re using a Microsoft account with Windows 8, you can open the Family Safety website at familysafety.microsoft.com and log in with your Microsoft account credentials.
You can view reports and edit family safety settings for each child from here. You can also add another parent to give multiple people access to the Family Safety page. Settings you specify here will synchronize to each Windows 8 computer you and your children use.

Click the View Activity Report link for a child to view a report of that child’s computer usage. You’ll also get weekly summary reports in your email inbox.
The reports show which websites your child visits most frequently, how many hours they’ve been logged into the computer on each day of the week, the searches they perform, which apps and games they use, and which apps they’ve downloaded from the Windows Store.

According to Microsoft, Family Safety is designed for a “monitor first” approach. First you monitor a child’s computer usage, and then you can optionally put restrictions in place. For example, you can block a website directly from the Web activity report.

The activity reporting feature can also be turned off – for example, you may want to impose computer time limits but not monitor what your children do on the computer.

Controlling Computer Usage

Click the Edit Settings link for a child to customize the child’s Family Safety settings.

For example, Web Filtering is turned off by default, but you can enable it and set a filtering level.

You can set time limits for your children’s computer use, either by granting them a limited number of hours each day or imposing a curfew time, after which they won’t be allowed to use the computer.

You can also block access to specific apps and games from here.

Log into this website to monitor and control your children’s computer usage from anywhere.

Internet Explorer 10 Tips and Tricks: It Can Do More Than You Think

internet explorer 10 tipsWhen Microsoft unveiled Windows 8, one of the most interesting things about it was the new iteration of Internet Explorer. If viewed via the Start screen, the slimmed-down browser offers maximum space for viewing web pages thanks to the position of buttons and the address bar striped across the bottom of the screen (where people don’t usually read). It’s a fascinating new approach, but Internet Explorer 10 is apparently low on features and options.
In fact, you might think that it can’t do much other than browse the web. Of course, you would be wrong. Thanks to the Desktop view in Windows 8 you can configure both the Metro and traditional “views” of the browser.
This article refers to the new-look Windows 8 as “Metro”, a term popularised by Microsoft and technology journalists to describe the tile-based interface seen in Windows 8 (and preceded on Windows Phone devices). Although this is no longer the name given to the user interface, it is the one that most people are familiar with.

Change The Default Search Engine

Recent figures have shown that Bing’s market share is growing – but if you still prefer to use Google for search, you can reconfigure Internet Explorer in the Windows 8 Desktop view. This is where the options for both versions of the browser can be found, via Tools > Internet Options. Once a change is made, it reflects on both the Start screen and the Desktop versions of the browser.

Using the gear/settings menu in the “full” Internet Explorer 10, open Manage add-ons and select Search Providers in the Add-on Types pane; you will see Bing listed on its own. At the foot of the window, click the Find more search providers… link and select your preferred search engine from the gallery of options. As well as Google, you’ll find DuckDuckGo listed.
Make your choice, click the Add to Internet Explorer button and look out for the Add Search Provider dialogue box. Check the Make this my default search provider option, click Add and close Internet Explorer. Now both versions will have your new search tool set as default.

Pinning & Favourites

On first glance, Internet Explorer 10 doesn’t appear to have a favourites button/star. The reason for this is simple – there are now two ways to add a website to your bookmarks.
internet explorer 10 review
In Windows 8, you can have both a traditional index of bookmarks and a series of Start screen shortcuts, known as pins. Internet Explorer 10 features a Pin button, found to the right of the address bar. By clicking or tapping this, you have the option of adding the website to your favourites or pinning, using the Add to favourites and Pin to Start options that are displayed on a small pop-up menu.

Frequently Visited Sites & Internet History

Favourites and browser history are shared between the two versions of IE10. These can be accessed in a variety of different ways depending on the browser view.

If you’re using the streamlined Metro browser, favourite websites can be viewed by clicking the Address Bar or pressing Alt + D. Although browsing history is not displayed in this view of the browser, it can be accessed through the Desktop version.
When using the Desktop Internet Explorer 10 browser, Favourites can be viewed by clicking the star icon in the top right corner of the window or by pressing the Alt + C keyboard combination. This displays the Favorites, Feeds, and History center. Browsing history can be accessed from the History tab.

Internet Explorer 10 Add-ons

It should come as no surprise to learn that the Metro view of Internet Explorer 10 features no support for Add-ons.
internet explorer 10 review
Instead, these must be installed and used in the Desktop version. To do this, switch to Desktop view, launch the browser and click the gear/settings button in the top-right corner. In the resulting menu, select Manage add-ons and use the Add-on Types list to find the add-on (another term for “plugin”) that you want to use. It is via this screen that you can enable, disable, or remove the add-ons.

Block Websites From Requesting Your Location

More and more websites rely on localization technology to tailor content for your browsing experience. To offer you the ability to opt-out of this sort of commercial surveillance, Microsoft has added a useful localization control to Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10.
internet explorer 10 tips
In the Start screen, launch Internet Explorer and tap Win + C or tap the right-edge of the display to open the Charms bar. Click Settings > Internet Options and under Permissions you will see the Ask for location switch. Set to On by default, a tap will disable the function.
Note also the Clear option beneath the switch. This allows you to prevent sites that you have previously shared your location with from locating you.

Conclusion

Although on first glance Internet Explorer 10 in Metro view looks like little more than a button-free window for fast browsing, the browser remains as flexible as previous versions in Windows 8’s Desktop view.
While history and configuration options are sparse in the Metro view, these are all available in the traditional Internet Explorer window, available through the desktop. Privacy options, add-ons and more can all be managed here, and those that determine background settings for the browser will impact both views, Desktop and Metro.

How to Make Invisible Password Protected Folder?

Do you want to password protect your folder? Do you want to make it invisible so that it remains unnoticed by the normal users? Well here is a way to do that. In this post I will show you how to make a password protected folder in Windows without using any additional software. Here is is step by step procedure to create a password protected folder.

How to create a Password Protected Folder?

Step-1: Create a new folder (Right-click -> New -> Folder) and give it any name of your choice. For instance I name it as ABC.

Step-2: Now in this folder place all the important files, documents or any folders that you want to password protect.

Step-3: Now Right-click on this folder (ABC) and select the option Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Step-4: Now a new compressed zipped folder gets created next this folder (ABC) with the same name.

Step-5: Double-click on this compressed zipped folder and you should see your original folder (ABC) here.

Step-6: Now go to the File menu and select the option Add a password.
i.e: File -> Add a password

Now a small window will pop up and here you can set your desired password. Once the password is set, the folder will ask for the password every time it is opened. Thus you have now created the password protected folder.

How to make it Invisible?

Step-1: Now Right-click on this password protected folder and select Properties.

Step-2: At the bottom select the option Hidden and press OK. Now your folder gets invisible (hidden).

Step-3: In order to un hide this folder go to My Computer – >Tools -> Folder options. Switch to View tab, scroll down and under Hidden files and folders you’ll see the following two options
 • Do not show hidden files and folders
 • Show hidden files and folders

Now select the second option and press OK. Now the invisible folder becomes visible in it’s location. To access it you need the password. To make it invisible again repeat step -1 through step-3 and select the first option and click OK. Now the folder becomes invisible once again.

pass your comments and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
